Keeping everyone safe

As we take another tentative step towards normality, we're keeping our current COVID safety measures in place to keep both our customers and colleagues safe. We've adopted the following measures:

We have a 2 metre social distancing policy in store.  Please maintain a gap of 2 metres between yourself and anyone not in your household at all times.

We will ask you to use hand sanitiser (provided at the hand sanitiser station at the entrance) as you enter the store.  There is also sanitiser available in departments which you will be required to use prior to trying on shoes and clothing.  As well as hand sanitiser available to you as you leave.

Although the legal requirement to wear a face covering in England ends on 19 July, the government expects and recommends that people continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces.  Therefore we’re encouraging our colleagues and you, our customers, to continue wearing face coverings if you can.

Where possible, try to avoid touching items that you do not intend to buy.

In order to minimise the risk of transmission of COVID-19 we strongly recommend buying items and trying them on at home.  Anything that is unsuitable can be returned in line with our regular refund policy.  We recognise that this may not be a suitable option for everyone and therefore are able to allow use of the fitting rooms in line with government guidance.  Hand Sanitiser is available on entry and exit of the fitting rooms.  After use, the fitting room is cleaned and touch points wiped down.  The door is then left open to allow it to air before the next customer.

We encourage the use of contactless card or Apple or Android Pay whenever possible in store.  The contactless card limit is now £45.  Apple or Android Pay is limitless.

As well as a daily deep clean, we are regularly cleaning any high traffic touch points throughout the day (this includes, but is not limited to, hand rails, lift buttons, credit card machines, toilets, door handles).

For extra protection, we've installed perspex shields at all till points, so that when you need to get a little closer to either put items on the counter, or enter a pin, both you and our colleagues are kept safe.

Staff have been trained to maintain social distancing at all times and that the most effective way to reduce the spread is through regular hand washing.  PPE is provided for those that have requested it, as well as anyone in a role that may not be able to maintain 2 metre social distancing.

In Store Services

There are a number of changes to in store services:

We have suspended our Bra Fitting Service until further notice.

Our Shoe Fitting Service is now up and running.  We are operating an appointment based system and kindly ask that you speak to our Shoe Department on 01892 833464 to make an appointment.  Drop Ins may be available, however if there is an appointment already booked in you may have to wait a while to be seen.  We've liaised with our biggest supplier of Children's Shoes, Clarks, to put in place a safe fitting service.  We have a designated fitting zone, where you can sit safely behind a perspex screen whilst a colleague in PPE will measure your feet.  You'll then be asked to move to a different seat to try on your shoes and if you need them checked you can come back into the fitting zone (when instructed by a staff member).  We will ask that you use hand sanitiser (provided in the department) before trying on any shoes.  We will also ask you to use a pair of pop socks (if you have bare feet) when trying on footwear.  If you are looking for school shoes then please bring a pair of suitable socks with you.

Our School Uniform Department is operating an Appointment based system.  We can accomodate drop ins during quieter times, but to avoid disappoint and for everyone's safety we recommend booking ahead by calling 01892 833464 and speaking with our Uniform Department.  Alternatively you can buy online here.

Our Fitting Rooms are available in line with government guidance.  However, we recommend buying and trying the items on at home where possible.  If they are not suitable then you can return these in line with our regular refund policy.  For your safety, any items returned to the store will be quarantined for 72 hours before being placed back out on sale.

Our Customer Toilets are open and available for customer use.  These are checked and cleaned regularly throughout the day.  Please follow social distancing and hand washing/hygiene guidance as detailed on the posters in store.

Our Nail & Brow Bar is now open Tues - Sat 10am - 1pm.

Coffee Shop

Open 9am - 4pm Monday - Saturday

Please be aware of the following changes that we have had to make in order to protect both colleagues and customers:

  • We will be offering a range of delicious meals, snacks, cakes and drinks.  Please be advised that some of our menu items may be temporarily unavailable or limited due to the current situation.
  • Please enter through the normal Coffee Shop entrance and queue on the 'Wait Here' floor markers.  A member of staff will take your order at the service point as normal (there is a perspex screen in place).  Where possible, please pay with contactless card.
  • For the purposes of government track and trace we are required to keep a record of customer details.  If you are a Privilege Card holder please ensure you use your card at the till point (you will be able to scan this yourself).  If not we will need to take your name and contact telephone number.  Alternatively you can scan the QR code in the Coffee Shop using the Track and Trace App on your phone.
  • We strongly encourage using contactless payment methods.
  • Once you have paid, please take a seat at your table where we will bring your drinks and food over to you when they are ready.
  • We encourage the use of face coverings when you are not seated at your table.
  • We have reduced the number of tables and chairs within the Coffee Shop to provide a safe distance between customers.
  • We have introduced a one-way flow for entering and exiting the Coffee Shop.  When you have finished, please exit through the doorway at the far end of the Coffee Shop.
  • We have put in place more frequent cleaning of high touch point areas and will continue to clean all tables and chairs with anti-bacterial spray between customers.  Please do not sit at a table until the previous customers items have been cleared away and the area has been cleaned.
  • Please be aware that service may take a little longer than normal due to the COVID procedures that have been put in place.
